Regional Consultation of West African Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to be Organised

LDC Watch is going to organize the “Regional Consultation of West African Least Developed Countries (LDCs) on Graduation from LDC Category” in Dakar, Senegal on 21-22 June 2017. The regional consultation aims to assess the effective implementation of the Istanbul Programme of Action (IPoA) for LDCs for the Decade 2011-2020 and discuss its synergy and coherence with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) towards achieving the overarching objective of poverty reduction and sustainable development in West African LDCs.

The West African LDC-specific issues going to be discussed in the program include poverty, conflict, and development in West African LDCs; reflection on synergy and coherence between IPoA and SDGs; the impact of climate change and adaptation in West African LDCs; agriculture, productivity, food security/sovereignty in West African LDCs; and trade, technology transfer and international cooperation in West African LDCs. The meeting will bring together representatives from National and International NGOs (I/NGOs), Civil Society Organisations, development partners, and media who are striving for change in West African LDCs.
